Jacinta Marto

Jacinta Marto was born on March 11, 1910, baptized in the parochial church of Fatima on March 19, 1910. Daughter of Manuel Pedro Marto and Olímpia de Jesus.
After the apparitions seeked by all means to make sacrifices for the salvation of sinners and in reparation for the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
She died at D. Estefânia Hospital, in Lisbon, on February 20, 1920, victim of the so called Spanish flu (as his brother one year before). Her mortal remains were moved from the Cemetery of Vila Nova de Ourém to the cemetery of Fatima, in this occasion the coffin was opened and her body was discovered uncorrupted, on May 1, 1951 was moved to the Basilica of the Sanctuary of fatima.
With his brother was declared Blessed on May, 13, 2000. The liturgical day of commemoration of the Blessed Francisco and jacinta Marto is on February 20.

Francisco Marto

Francisco Marto was born on June 11, 1908 at Aljustrel, a small hamlet of Fátima. Baptized in the parochial church of Fatima on June 20, 1908. Son of Manuel Pedro Marto and Olímpia de Jesus.
After the apparitions dedicated his time to the adoration of the Holly Eucharist which he called “The hidden Jesus”. Sometimes skipped school to stay in the church adoring Jesus ins the tabernacle and praying for the conversions of sinners.
Died on April 4, 1919, victim of the 1918 influenza pandemic in his house. His mortal remains were moved to the Basilica of Fatima on March 13, 1952.
He was declared Blessed by Pope John Paul II on May 13, 2000 in a Mass on the Sactuary of Fatima.

Lúcia de Jesus

Born on March 28, 1907 at Aljustrel (Fatima), baptized on March 30, 1907, died in Coimbra’s Carmel Monastery on February 13, 2005. Daughter of Antonio dos Santos and Maria Rosa was the youngest of seven.
On October 24, 1925 entered as a novice in the Institut of St. Doroty in Tuy (Spain) after a few years in a school of this institut in Oporto, and made her definitive vows on October 3, 1928. On March 25, 1948 enters in the Saint Therese Carmel of Coimbra were she remained until her death.
On February 19, 2006 her mortal remains were moved to the Basilic of the Sanctuary of Fatima.
On February 13, 2008 the Pope Benedict XVI revoked the five-year waiting period and he has allowed for the diocesan phase of the Carmelite’s cause of beatification to begin three years after her death.

Hi. I’m a priest, working as a chaplain in the Sactuary of Our Lady of Fatima, in Portugal.
This is a simple blog to practice my English and to write about the aparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary to the tree shepperds: Lúcia de Jesus and her cousins Francisco e Jacinta Marto in 1917.
